SOILRES welcomes European policymaker Dario Nardella to the Italian experimental site

The SOILRES project hosted Dario Nardella at its experimental site in Italy, during a visit organized by RE-CORD on April 24, 2026. Currently serving as a Member of the European Parliament on the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, and formerly Mayor of Florence, Mr. Nardella’s visit reflects the growing attention at the European level towards sustainable agricultural innovation.

During the visit, project partners presented SOILRES’ biochar production plants, as well as ongoing growth trials involving corn cultivated with biochar inoculated with beneficial microorganisms, an innovative solution designed to enhance soil health and contribute to climate-smart farming practices.

These activities are part of the case study carried out in collaboration with University of Naples Federico II, together with project partners Deafal and Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies. This joint effort demonstrates SOILRES’ commitment to advancing practical, science-based solutions through strong collaboration across research and innovation actors.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to exchange views on the role of sustainable soil management in shaping future European agricultural policies, while also showcasing the progress achieved within the SOILRES project.
