Stakeholder Engagement and Requirements aims to consolidate the acceptability and applicability of strategies and technologies through a multi-actor approach. It will undertake robust stakeholder mapping to integrate knowledge and needs from various sectors, establish National Task Forces (NTFs) in all countries hosting test sites (Denmark, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, Portugal), and coordinate structured intra- and inter-NTF activities to facilitate knowledge sharing and dissemination across countries and stakeholders.
Harnessing Soil-Microbiota Interactions will assess the impact of soil improvers and innovative farming strategies field-tested in WP4 across different geoclimatic regions, focusing on promoting soil biodiversity, enhancing soil health, improving nutrient provision to plants, and supporting pest suppression. WP2 will work closely with WP3, WP4, and WP5 to quantify benefits and trade-offs in the tested agricultural systems, and its results will be integrated into a customizable web interface to provide farmers and other stakeholders with accessible decision-making tools.
Digital Tools for Biodiversity aims to enhance and apply advanced methods for assessing soil health and cropland productivity using multisource remote sensing and modelling approaches. It will generate comprehensive datasets and develop scalable, model-based adaptation strategies, all of which will be incorporated into a customizable web interface, giving farmers and stakeholders accessible tools for informed decision-making.
Testing and Use Case Implementation will develop and validate soil improvers and innovative farming techniques to support the implementation of conservation practices within organic and low-input agriculture. This work package encompasses both standardized field trials at research stations and on-farm experimentation. Its objectives include defining common protocols, sampling procedures, and data management systems, developing new soil health improvers, and validating agroecological practices to enhance soil health and plant performance at demonstration sites.
Assessment will conduct thorough evaluations of soil quality, including chemical, physical, and biological parameters, alongside analyses of crop quality and performance. It will assess the agronomic, environmental, and cost-effectiveness of the implemented innovations, identify barriers and enablers to adoption at the food system level, and provide policy recommendations to promote the transition to improved cropping practices.
Exploitation, Replicability, and Legacy focuses on maximizing the impact and long-term sustainability of SOILRES results. It will manage intellectual property, ensure alignment with EU regulatory frameworks, analyze market potential, define exploitation strategies, explore business models, and develop replication strategies for healthy soil management practices.
Communication and Dissemination will define a common strategy for communication and dissemination of project results, facilitate networking and cooperation with other EU projects and initiatives, and support capacity building among stakeholders and partners, ensuring the visibility and uptake of SOILRES outcomes.
Project Coordination and Management will oversee the strategic management of the project, monitor technical progress, contractual obligations, and risks, coordinate planning and decision-making, and ensure proper data management, ethics compliance, and effective administration across all work packages.
